We at Color Printing Wholesale offer variable data printing as part of our digital printing services. The digital method enables us to mass produce custom prints instead of reproducing large quantities of prints from only one design. For example, we can print 1,000 unique and personalized prints as opposed to printing 1,000 copies of a single print in offset printing.

There are three types of variable data printing options:

• On-demand short-run variable printing service - On demand short run color printing is done by printing a set number of pages in short run impressions. This is the easiest type of digital variable printing method because there is no programming involved. This method is considered a variable printing method because the focus of each of the short run prints can be changed from one client to another.

• Selectable variable printing service – selectable variable printing is a more complicated type of digital variable print. Here, you will have to determine which elements of the design will stay the same and which elements will become variable or different.
  

This type of variable printing service allows you to print postcards for direct mail marketing campaigns. You retain the original design and layout of your postcards but print a different name and address on each. This same principle can be applied when printing your tickets and stubs. Every ticket has a different set of numbers and no two tickets are the same.

• Full variable printing service – full variable printing service is the most fun as well as the most complicated of all variable printing services. This type of variable printing relies heavily on the printer’s computer database. By programming different codes (you may specify the codes your self or leave them at random) on to your computer’s hard drive, the algorithm and scripts that you input will alter your prints at random or at a controlled pace (depending on the code that you input earlier). Theoretically, this type of printing allows you to have entirely different prints each and every time.
